i use a stereogram converter called Stereo Creator, it's a freeware, but i can't remember where i found it originally.

you basically paint (in my case) a depth map in greyscale. The further away the darker, the closer stuff is lighter. Others use a 3D model system

he knows heaps, you should go s=check it out, he also is really friendly and I’m sure he would explain things to you if you asked. he also has a freeware version of the program he uses available: [link]
